David Ramirez possesses distinctive musical experience with over 30 years conducting groups and vocal ensembles professionally.

He has travelled with various choirs representing the Costa Rican Choral Culture to Germany, Belgium, England, Switzerland, Czech Republic, The United States, México, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua.

His speciality and knowledge of the diverse musical styles have lead him to present lectures and workshops specialized in choral music in Bakersfield College - U.S.A., California State University - Los Angeles, American Choral Directors Association (Western Division Convention ACDA), Ruhr University in Bochum - Germany and the Choral Society of the United Kingdom St. George’s Singers in Manchester.

In Costa Rica, he has been founder and musical adviser of a wide amount of choral groups at “Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica” and “Instituto Costarricense Pro-Música Coral” Foundation.

One of his most important projects has been “El Café Chorale” in 1994. It is conformed of university music students, professional and non professional choral singers. The choir has represented Costa Rica in international stages winning contests, prizes and special distinctions.

M.A. Ramirez is a permanent consultant, tutor, researcher, choral studies director, regular jury guest and workshop presenter at international choral contests.

He is currently a professor and lecturer of the Music School at “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Costa Rica,” where he has been a constant member of the Academic Counseling. He teaches specialized Choral Conducting, Musical Pedagogy, Choral Literature and Musical Interpretation courses. He has developed a professorship of great reputation with national and international students.
